Fullarton Venturers
Friday the 26th of September 2008 was the slimiest night of the year for over 150 Venturers who attended the annual SA Venturer Jelly Wrestling Competition.
The brave wrestlers were supported by chants and encouraging pep-talks from the crowds of cheering fans. Each pair of wrestlers had to hold their opponent down for a count of three to win their round, which is not as easy as it sounds! Every round had a battle, and there was no easy win.
A blazing bonfire, sizzling barbecue, foot-stomping music and twister games - the night was full of activities for everyone.
Between rounds, some were lucky enough to play in the jelly for fun - where Venturers got pay-back from Leaders, and Leaders from Venturers.
The final rounds showed who was boss, and who was manly/womanly enough to take home the trophy. Congratulations to the champions – “Chickenzilla Reborn” (Matt Ingham, Lyndoch Venturers) and “Curvy Coconuts” (Emma Heywood, Reynella Venturers).
